The information on this page is from the National Tax Practice Institute (NTPI) held in August, 2009 and provides general information about this program. In 2010, NAEA’s Annual Meeting and NTPI will be held August 8-11, 2010 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. More information will be available in the spring, 2010.
As a Circular 230 tax professional, you are licensed to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for audits, collections, and appeals. The goal of NAEA’s National Tax Practice Institute™ (NTPI®) is to assist enrolled practitioners as they develop a specialty in representation and to expand and enhance the skills of those already representing taxpayers before the IRS.
NAEA developed NTPI to prepare licensed representatives to protect their clients’ rights. At NTPI you will increase your knowledge of IRS laws and procedures critical to representation—including the most recent changes to Circular 230. Learn from Circular 230 practitioners (your peers) who are actively involved in representation, and gain practical hands-on experience.
At its core, NTPI is a three-level program developed to sharpen the skills of enrolled practitioners at all stages of their careers. With each level of this program, students expand their knowledge and skills, and gain the confidence needed to successfully guide their clients through the often challenging maze of IRS codes, internal regulations, and agency structure.
Again this year, attendees are no longer restricted in their course selections. Circular 230 practitioners are now invited to drop into any Level One or Three class that catches their interest (because of the unique case study nature of Level Two, completion of Level One is still a prerequisite and no drop-ins are allowed). If your interest is to achieve your NTPI Fellow status, taking the three levels in order is mandatory.
Enrolled agents who complete Levels One, Two and Three join the ranks of the prestigious Fellows of NAEA’s National Tax Practice Institute™.
