Enrolled Agents Honored with National Awards 2008

Washington, D.C. (September 2, 2008)— At their annual meeting in Baltimore in August, The National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) honored individuals who have given their time, talents, and skills to serve the public, enrolled agents, and the NAEA during the past year.  The award winners are as follows:

Martin H. Stein, EA – of Edison, NJ, is the recipient of the Enrolled Agent Mentor Award, recognizing his significant contribution to the growth of the enrolled agent profession in general and the growth of the membership of NAEA in particular;

Diana Velasco – of Thibodaux, LA, is the recipient of the Excellence in Education Award, recognizing her leadership and dedication to promote quality continuing education on behalf of NAEA and the NAEA Foundation;

Jennifer MacMillan, EA – of Santa Barbara, CA, is the recipient of the Excellence in Public Awareness Award, recognizing her significant contribution in making “Enrolled Agent” and “EA” more readily recognizable as the tax professional of choice;

Michael A. Chesman  of Washington, D.C. and Fumio Otaki of Japan were each recognized with an Outstanding Supporter of Enrolled Agents Award, recognizing their significant contributions as an individual who is not an enrolled agent on making “Enrolled Agent” and “EA” more readily recognizable as the tax professional of choice;


Connie L. Farrell, EA, of Soulsbyville, CA, and Jill Mendenhall, EA, of Mountainview, CA, are each the recipient of the Outstanding Volunteer Award, which recognizes her service to NAEA, its affiliates, and/or a local chapter;

Diana M. Thompson, EA – of Cincinnati, OH – is the recipient of The Founders Award  in recognition of her significant contribution and service to NAEA and its members which exemplify the principles and goals envisioned by NAEA’s founders.

Each of the recipients has given extensive time and effort into promoting the enrolled agent profession. The members of the association congratulate these individuals who have established their commitment to enrolled agents and to the NAEA.
