Joining NAEA was an investment in my career that has paid off! The benefits, such as excellent educational programs and the exchange of tax ideas with other NAEA members, have been well worth the cost of membership. I highly recommend membership in NAEA to both newcomers to the enrolled agent profession and experienced EAs—NAEA provides value to people at all stages of their careers.

NAEA Member since 1997

NAEA is the only association dedicated to serving your interests as an enrolled agent by helping build your business, advocating on your behalf with federal and state legislative bodies and educating the public on the advantages of hiring an enrolled agent. If you have earned the enrolled agent license, protect your investment through membership in NAEA. If you have decided to become an enrolled agent, it’s time to step up to membership and let NAEA work for you!

Advocacy
Safeguarding Your Interests
NAEA is your voice to government, representing your distinct interests as an enrolled agent and protecting your right to practice. As the regulation of all paid preparers rolls out, NAEA is in frequent communication with IRS, staying involved and on top of any changes that will affect EAs. In addition, NAEA advocates for enrolled agents through:

  • Member testimonies before the House and Senate on issues that make a difference in your practice
  • Local level partnerships with state affiliates on state-based legislation and regulatory issues
  • NAEA PAC (a bipartisan political action committee), a significant grassroots force that helps elect public officials that understand and share the priorities of enrolled agents

Public Awareness
Educating the Public about EAs
NAEA is constantly educating the public on the advantages of hiring an enrolled agent. When you see enrolled agents featured in national and local media, there’s a good chance that NAEA made it happen. Spreading the word that EAs are the tax professionals of choice—communicating the value you bring to your clients and potential clients—is a primary association goal! In addition to garnering coverage in traditional print and broadcast media, NAEA has broken new ground by putting EAs in the media spotlight:

  • NBC’s Today Show, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Fox Business News
  • NPR’s “Marketplace”
  • In-flight broadcasts of Sky Radio (American and Northwest Airlines)
  • XM Radio’s “Oprah & Friends”
  • The nationally-syndicated column “Dear Abby”
  • Spanish-language publications such as Hispanos Unidos
  • Online at MarketWatch.com
  • In local newspapers across the country through frequently-distributed press releases

Continuing Education
The NAEA National Conference
NAEA earned its reputation for educational excellence with the National Tax Practice Institute™ (NTPI®), the country’s only annual educational event designed specifically for Circular 230 practitioners seeking to specialize in representation of clients before the IRS. NTPI is where top tax professionals gain the knowledge and confidence to successfully guide clients through the challenging maze of Internal Revenue Code provisions, IRS internal regulations and agency structure. In 2010, NAEA created the National Conference and expanded NTPI to include:

  • A robust Tax Prep/Practice Management track to not only put you on the cutting-edge of tax prep expertise, but to provide valuable information on how to make your practice more profitable
  • A Special Enrollment Exam Review track for experienced tax preparers who have decided the time is right to rise to the next grade and become an EA

Passing the SEE
No organization is more qualified to support tax professionals seeking to earn the EA license than NAEA, the one organization dedicated to serving enrolled agents. In addition to the in-person SEE Review track at the NAEA National Conference, NAEA also offers a moderated online SEE prep course that offers a more structured and supported approach.

Beyond the SEE: Helping You Fulfill CPE Requirements
Attendees of the NAEA National Conference can earn up to 25 CPE credits, but for members who prefer to earn CPE at home, the EA Journal Home CPE is one of NAEA’s most popular resources!

  • Enjoy reading in-depth articles surrounding high-profile tax topics in NAEA’s bimonthly magazine, and earn up to four CPE credits by passing a test on what you’ve just read
  • The test is provided in each issue and can be faxed or mailed to NAEA, or can be taken online for faster results
  • Complete your Ethics requirement with the annual May/June Ethics issue of EA Journal

This convenient and affordable CPE option recently incorporated a bulk discount program, making it a better bargain than ever! Plus, NAEA is developing a new, cutting-edge program of online CPE, bringing premier tax education to its members’ desktops.

Not only have I found value, education and a world of new friends, but NAEA has provided me with the tools and motivation to achieve my goals.
